Are you passionate about providing exceptional care and support? Would you like a fixed shift patten to ensure work-life balance? We’re seeking caring and dedicated individuals to join our team at Sesame, a warm and welcoming 4-bed residential home for adults with learning disabilities in Torquay.

Sesame is a warm and welcoming home, providing 24/7 tailored residential care and support to adults with learning disabilities. Our focus is on providing support and opportunities for our residents, to enable them to reach their full potential, increase their independence and ultimately, live their best life. Residents are encouraged to participate in daily life, from contributing to household tasks to sharing their input on home decisions.
What you’ll do:
You’ll be joining our committed team, working to provide our residents with personalised, high-quality support. Your day-to-day tasks will vary, but will include:
– Delivering high-quality personal care, ensuring dignity and respect are always maintained.
– Assisting residents in developing independence and achieving their goals.
– Creating engaging activities and supporting participation.
– Contributing to a positive and supportive home environment.
– Working as a team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
Who we’re looking for:
– A reliable and dedicated team-player, able to work collaboratively to provide high-quality care to our residents.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills (non-verbal communication skills such as Makaton, BSL or PECS would be an advantage, but not essential).
– Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
– Flexible and adaptable, responsive to changing needs.
– An understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding and risk assessments.
– Previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities in a residential home setting would be advantageous, however not essential.
– You must be a driver to be considered, as we need staff to support our residents on their outings (in our company vehicles).

Working Patterns:
We understand that working in care can be demanding. To help you maintain a healthy work-life balance, we offer a 4-week fixed shift pattern at Sesame. This means you'll know your schedule in advance, giving you peace of mind to allow you to plan your personal time and ensure adequate rest between your shifts.
Vacancy 1 - 36 hours
Week 1: Wednesday 08.00-20.00, Saturday 08.00-20.00, Sunday 08.00-20.00.
Week 2: Monday 14.00-20.00, Tuesday 14.00-20.00, Thursday 08.00-20.00, Sunday 08.00-20.00.
Week 3: Monday 14.00-20.00, Wednesday 08.00-20.00, Thursday 08.00-20.00, Sunday 08.00-20.00.
Week 4: Monday 08.00-20.00, Thursday 14.00-20.00, Sunday 08.00-20.00.
Vacancy 2 – 40.5 hours
Week 1: Monday 08.00-20.00, Tuesday 08.00-20.00, Saturday 08.00-20.00, Sunday 08.00-20.00.
Week 2: Wednesday 08.00-20.00, Thursday 08.00-14.00, Friday 08.00-20.00.

While your shift pattern is fixed, we do operate on a 24/7 basis to support our residents. Therefore, there may be times when you'll be asked to cover shifts due to sickness or absences, with sufficient notice provided.
