Job purpose:

To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable/assist your employer who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests. 

This role may involve overnight support. 

 

About the employer:

  Male , age 57, Ordained Non-stipendiary Christian Priest/Chaplain/Celebrant for Devon/Exeter & Cyprus, likes Classic FM; Costa Coffee Cafes; Surfing the Internet; lives in their new home with his partner of some 15 years; 3 ½ year old Labrador (who has a social anxiety disorder, (which mellows after a few visits & a pocket of treats! (Typical Lab); Dr Lee is a qualified commercial drone pilot and he would like to extend this hobby; sharing time with my partner and our dog is precious as is his commitment to helping others, regardless of their gender, race, ability or faith.. 

Dr Lee has a long list of co morbidities, from diabetes to heart failure. These complex health/care needs, require specific medical attention and medication, other conditions include partial sight loss and mobility & anxiety issues due to lack of physio and exercise prior to, during and post Covid. 

 

Main duties:

Social duties, support to: 

stay connected and socialise with his mother, a handful of close friends & the outside world 

aid and develop my growth in his hobbies, including aerial photography 

attend medical appointments 

ensure the dog is exercised at least once during each shift. 

attend social events 

assist with his role as a Cleric in Holy Orders & with Chaplaincy duties. 

Personal care, support with washing, showering, shaving, dressing, administering medication (including insulin & controlled drugs), & performing other duties within capability and status.  

Domestic duties, grocery shopping, cooking, and serving nutritious meals and snacks, copious fluids, cleaning, changing linen & inco’ sheets, laundry, ironing, and light gardening. 

These duties will vary from day to day and will depend on the time of the shift & wishes of your client

Values, honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, ability to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexible, adaptable, easy going, able to work alone, positive, willingness to learn, understand equality and diversity & its’ place in the household, have a good sense of humour.  

Specific requirements, someone with is willing to learn and keen to just ‘muck in’ within capabilities. 

Other: due to the nature of this role including medical/personal care your potential employer will be considering female & male applicants comfortable and capable with a non-judgemental nature. 

What you can expect to receive:

You will be supported during your induction/first few weeks of working by an existing PA, you will have access to other training opportunities, a rate of pay (decided and fixed by NHS), working predominantly mornings, a fixed minimum number of hours per week (pro rata), paid holidays  and work place pension.

A variety of shifts covering the seven days of the week, ‘no one week will be the same’ these hours will be given and agreed in advance.

Initially from 7am til Midday,  with each week different, the right candidate must be flexible as the duties will greatly depend on his partner's rota. It is expected that there will be a minimum of 20 hours per week, (pro rata),  Whilst this post is permanent it is dependent upon NHS funding. Each contract with me will contain this caveat.
