As the Registered Nurse you will lead and manage the health and medical care provided to children and young people within the service.
You will be part of the Senior Leadership Team working alongside the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to develop and improve practice across the service.
As part of your role you will be expected to provide training, guidance and support to a team of residential support workers to carry out medical competencies including:
– Safe handling, storage and administration of medication.
– Gastrostomy care
– Jejunostomy care
– Tracheostomy care
– Oral suction
– Midazolam administration
– Other relevant competencies
The post holder will have an excellent knowledge of safeguarding and take responsibility for recognising reporting and following up on any concerns.
The post holder will act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the service and provide professional support to the Designated Safeguarding Lead during any investigations or referrals. Relevant training will be provided.
The post holder will receive regular clinical supervision from the Community Nursing Team Manager alongside regular practice based supervision from the Registered Manager.
Registered Nurse required for Wood View Children's Home in Plymouth. Full year, 32 hours per week. Alternate weekend shifts. Please note salary will be pro-rata.

Wood View Short Break Service, is a registered Children’s Home, providing high standards of care and support as well as a varied range of indoor and outdoor activities. Each young person who stays with us is given the opportunity to enjoy the company of their peers and develop their social skills in a safe environment.
Many of the children who come to Wood View have complex care and support needs which may include: sensory impairments, learning and physical disabilities. Many of the children, who are supported at Wood View, also have associated complex medical needs. The skill set of our staff team and the specialist equipment within the home ensures that we are able to fully support all of the young people’s needs.
Wood View accommodates children between the ages of 3 – 18, offering overnight accommodation for up to 6 children and young people at one time. We also provide day care support for children as part of a transitional programme.
We are located in a state of the art building in Whitleigh, with some beautiful views and lots of space. Our links with Woodlands Special School give us access to a superb outdoor play area and allotment, along with other facilities such as fully-hoisted dance studio and a stunning hydro pool.
