Locum Consultant Rheumatologist
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated colleagues to join our department as full or part-time locum Consultants in Rheumatology. These posts have arisen to cover two vacant consultant posts (due to relocation and retirement) which we are recruiting into. It is an opportunity to join a rapidly developing rheumatology department in an expanding teaching hospital and in an attractive part of Britain close to both the Devon and Cornwall coasts and Dartmoor National Park. The University Hospital Plymouth Hospital NHS Trust is associated with the Plymouth University Peninsula School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Rheumatology.
We run specialist clinics for early inflammatory arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, biologic, GCA, connective tissue diseases and combined clinics with endocrinology, dermatology and orthopaedics teams. We also run multidisciplinary specialist paediatric and adolescent rheumatology and osteoporosis services. We have a very active clinical trials programme.
There is an opportunity to concentrate on maintaining the adolescent/transitional rheumatology service that has evolved over the last 10-15 years and/or work with existing consultant staff in rheumatology and orthogeriatrics to expand the osteoporosis service as well as supporting general/adult rheumatology services. We will be happy to consider colleagues with other specialist interests too.
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHPT) is closely associated with Plymouth University Medical and Dental School. There are the numerous teaching and growing research opportunities available through PUPMED and the clinical trials unit.
The successful candidate will be employed by UHPT and will complement our team of 5 rheumatology consultants.
For informal discussion or visit to the department, please contact Dr Jon King, Clinical Lead for Rheumatology on 01752 430068 or via email email@example.com.
