Right now, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed Activity Coordinator to join the team at our care home in Plymouth. Our focus is on providing the highest quality service at all times. Is yours?
What you’ll be doing
- Taking responsibility for the planning and implementing of structured activities based on the residents’ interests, hobbies and wishes to enhance their wellbeing.
- Producing a varied activity schedule which will include activities for; a larger group, smaller group sessions and one to one time with residents.
- You will engage with relatives and visitors to help plan activities and to include them.
- To encourage, support and facilitate any day-to-day activity or events around religion and personal beliefs.
- Arranging suitable entertainers within an agreed budget.
- Assisting residents to and from activities including outings.
- Documenting key observations using our advanced iPod-based care system including taking photographs and maintaining an activity log with evaluations.
- Generally promoting our residents’ independence, choice, dignity and respect by delivering the very best standards of care which will be shown throughout each activity.
- You will take a strong lead in the home’s community engagement, enabling residents, relatives and staff to build key relationships within the local community.
What you’ll need
- Ideally, some experience in a care environment, although this is not as essential as your genuine desire to develop a career in this field.
- Some skills and experience in activities such as arts and crafts, gardening, baking, singing, etc.
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to work well as part of a dedicated team and strong organisational skills.
- A respectful, courteous and compassionate nature and a belief in giving your personal best at all times and striving for continuous improvement.
- Flexibility where we may occasionally ask you to amend your working hours to be present at key events, for example if the annual summer fete fell on your day off.
- A clean drivers licence
