Rotational Pharmacist
Barnstaple
An opportunity has arisen to join our small and dynamic clinical pharmacy team at the Barnstaple site of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Based in the stunning rural location of North Devon you will be close to the local beaches and Exmoor.
The purpose of this role is to support the pharmacy department vision – ‘Getting medicines right by ensuring their safe, effective and timely use throughout the patient journey’. This is achieved through a high level of medicine reconciliation, discharge facilitation and availability at ward level for pharmacy interventions and advice.
You will join the Trust at an exciting time following implementation of our electronic prescribing system MyCare. The post holder will rotate through medicine, surgery, paediatrics, mental health and technical services. The post holder will be expected to support clinical screening and accuracy checking within the pharmacy department. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the on-call pharmacy service and weekend working.
This is a permanent substantive contract, ideally suited to an individual looking to gain experience in hospital pharmacy. Applications from newly qualified pharmacists, pharmacists due for qualification in Summer 2022 or pharmacists currently working in community pharmacy are welcome and we would support the transition into hospital pharmacy. The post holder will be supported to complete a clinical pharmacy diploma within the role.
If you are interested in applying for this post or wish to ask any questions about the role, please do not hesitate to contact Jennifer Wilson (Lead Pharmacist education and training) – jwilson48@nhs.net, tel – 01271 322390.
