First Contact Practitioner – Physiotherapist
Are you an experienced Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist looking for a new challenge with a dynamic, innovative and supportive team in North Devon?
The formation of the Costal and Torridge Primary Care Networks (PCNs) has led to the development of new First Contact Practitioner (FCP) roles within the PCNs. We are aiming to work collaboratively across whole MSK pathway to improve patient access to the right care, by the right person, at the right time.
As an FCP Physiotherapist you will be based predominantly within the Orthopaedic Interface Service (OIFS) with the opportunity to develop an Advanced Practitioner portfolio over the whole MSK Pathway. With access to radiology, pathology, neurophysiology investigations, in-house diagnostic and interventional ultrasound we provide a wide range of complex assessment, diagnosis and management of spinal, upper and lower limb conditions. We link closely with the Orthopaedic and Pain Team for an integrated approach to patient management across the pathway.
A Band 8a Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) will work clinically across the MSK pathway and provide leadership to facilitate the expanding FCP service within the primary care networks.
If you do not hold the required competencies for the Band 8a post, you will be placed in a Band 7 developmental AP/FCP role which will work with the primary care networks and MSK physiotherapy teams across North Devon. Please see attached Band 7 Job Description for further information.
The successful applicant will have well-established MSK skills and would be keen to develop towards an FCP role with full support and training. We have a highly skilled and experienced clinical team to support developing your competencies. We are currently working with local higher education institutes and professional networks to develop our workforce with the opportunity to undertake ACP modules, full MSc or portfolio routes.
You will be part of a network of advanced physiotherapy clinicians for peer support and professional development. You will be given time and the opportunity to develop yourself and others. There is an expectation that you will participate in service evaluation undertaking both audit and research, often sharing your work at conferences and in publications.
If you are passionate about MSK management and keen to work collaboratively across the North Devon MSK pathway, while building an Advanced Practice portfolio, we would like to hear from you. There is the expectation that you will be flexible to meet the needs of the service and in return we will offer an exciting role within a supportive team with flexible working arrangements.
